Mt. Shasta

It's Monday morning and we are in the beautiful Sierra Mountains in Northeastern CA. Spent last night at Lake Almanor with a family from Rob's school (thanks, you guys!). We will be driving along Lake Tahoe today on our way to Yosemite. Looking forward to a beautiful, sunny, warm day!

June 26, 2010 - We're outta here!

The car is packed, and...
Rob locks the door at 8:15 am. Put Tom Petty's new CD in the stereo and had our sunglasses on by 10:20, 30 miles from the Oregon border. Yeah! Stopped in Portland and watched the US lose to Ghana (Boo Hoo). Made our way to Corvallis and our friend Louie for the evening and a good night's rest.

We are headed out this summer on a road trip around the USA. Along the way we will visit friends and family, sites of natural beauty, cities we've never seen and all the surprises in between. We'll be on the road for nine weeks driving our 2000 Subaru Outback. We are going to put more than 10,000 miles on the car as we make our way south through California, then east through the southern states, up the east coast and back the northern route. We will be camping, staying with friends and family, getting hotels and maybe sleeping in the car if we have to. Midway through our trip we are spending a week on Long Beach Island off the coast of New Jersey with both sides of our family - a reunion of about 30 people.

A number of folks have suggested that I blog - something new for me. But, I always keep a journal when we travel, so this time I'll do it online instead of in a book. So, check back here from time to time if you are interested and I'll share our trip experiences.
