The Grand Canyon
We are in Arizona. We drove to Williams this morning and watched the Netherlands-Uruguay soccer match over lunch in an Irish-Mexican restaurant called Pancho McGillicuddy's. Yes, you read that right. The son of an Irish immigrant met a woman from Sonora, Mexico when he was working the railroads. His Irish-Mexican cooking was famous among the railroad workers and eventually they opened a restaurant.
We spent the afternoon until sunset at the Grand Canyon. The grandeur and geologic history of this place make one feel like a speck in the universe. Even the smaller canyons around the Grand Canyon are spectacular. We are in the Navajo Nation now and will be here for the next few days. Below is a very small representation of the many photos we took today.
